company Unilever. Invented and named by Robert Chesebrough in 1859.


Vaseline =  Wasser (Water in German) + elaion (oil in Greek) + ine (Scientific-Sounded Ending)

"Dirt Is Good", which is a communication strategy of Unilever for its premium detergent products, sold under various brand names; such as Omo in Brazil and Persil in UK and France.

Pears - World's Oldest Continuously Existing Brand

Pears transparent soap is a brand of soap first produced and sold in 1789 by Andrew Pears at a factory just off Oxford Street in London, England.


According to Unilever records, Pears Soap was the world's first registered brand and is therefore the world's oldest continuously existing brand.

Lux means Light !

The brand was founded by the Lever Brothers (today known as Unilever) in 1899 as Laundry Soap. The name changed from “Sunlight Flakes” to “Lux” in 1900, a Latin word for “light” and suggestive of “luxury.”


Since the 1930s, more than 400 of the world’s most famous female celebrities have been associated with Lux.
